In the car with Olive

Driving has taken a new direction with Olive on my lap. I think I am in love with her. Woof.

Palm Canyon at Indian Canyons - Palm Springs

This is one of my favorite places to go. Even in the summer, when temps reach into the triple digits, you can find relief from the heat on the cool canyon floor. Fifteen miles long, Palm Canyon is the largest palm tree canyon in the world. Home to the Washingtonia filifera species of palm, this lush canyon is also home to a host of other, and smaller lives.

Road Trip Through Utah

It was my original intention to post a photograph everyday . . . but as you can see, I am falling short of that goal. I'll try and do better.

This is from my road trip to Montana; I never arrived. There is so much beauty on the road that in the time I had allotted for the drive, I only made it as far as central Utah. These are some of the things I saw on the way. More tomorrow . . .

My friend Julia rescued a puppy and named her Olive.

She brought her to meet me today . . . she's little, hence the need for a sweater. woof.

And lest you think that I all do is take photographs of sunsets and sunrises, here is a butterfly from the canyon.

On occasion I go to the Cochella Valley. This is the wind farm off of Interstate 10 that I pass on my way.

I open the door to let one of the cats in and hear fireworks. What’s that about? Mid December and the sky is popping off with summer attitude. I suppose it is what comes along with being a harbor / bay city with the rumor of it always being sunny-warm. But it’s not. It’s cold and gray today and I am thankful for a warm place to take my boots off and hang my coat. And of course there is the pleasure of my feline companionship. We’re making burritos for supper tonight. They’ve asked for tuna fish ones.
